June 1 – July 7, 2018
GOCA, Colorado Springs, CO
GALLERIES OF CONTEMPORARY ART • COLLECTIVITY EXHIBITION: Artists are continuously envisioning new models for the art world and bringing them to fruition by working together—collectively—with other artists. Collectivity will investigate points of connection between artists from two international artist collectives based out of the Western United States, Hyperlink (Colorado) and Durden & Ray (Los Angeles), in two exhibitions across two states. Artist collectives are as varied in their scope as are the individual artists who band together, taking a “yes, and…” approach to the art world. These artists embody the Western ethos of blazing your own path and defining art world success in new ways.
GALLERIES OF CONTEMPORARY ART GOCA: GOCA is a regional hub of contemporary art, culture, and conversation. By featuring world-class artists, hosting artist and expert talks, and offering meaningful events, GOCA engages UCCS students, faculty, staff and Pikes Peak region community members in contemporary culture and life.
DURDEN & RAY: Founded in 2009, Durden and Ray is comprised of 24 artist/curators who work together to create exhibition opportunities at their downtown Los Angeles gallery as well as in concert with artist groups and gallery spaces around the world. Durden and Ray concentrates on small, tightly curated group shows at the gallery, organized by the members, and hosts international artists as part of a commitment to global exchange and alternative networks.
